A self titled EP recorded in late 2006 offered the first documentation of the Modern Cliches sound. The recording followed a sparky appearance at the Reading Festival in August of that year - The Modern Cliches having stormed to a festival slot at a Battle of the Bands at Oxford’s Zodiac Club.

A prominent, and well-acclaimed, live presence in the Midlands and London followed, with support slots for Reverend and the Makers, Joe Lean and The Jing Jang Jong, Royworld, and hip-hop artist Scroobius Pip, amongst others. Gigs at the Oxford Carling Academy, and various headlining shows, most notably at Storm in Leicester Square, and at a heaving Hope and Anchor, offered further exposure. The song ‘Sharp Suits & Dirty Handshakes’ featured on Jamie Oliver’s BBQ Special, including a live performance on set in July 2007.

The Cliches returned to the studio in December 2007 and with the assistance of producer and engineer Sadegh Hakimi at Prism Music Studio, Bicester, Oxon, the sessions spawned the rampant single ‘You Don’t Know What You Want To Be’, as well as an EP that reflects the band’s development with a fresh, and heavier sound. The EP caught the attention of Crash Records and discussions are under way for this track to be released as a downloadable single via Universal Digital/Crash Records later in 2008. Awash with space, Tarantino-style guitars, and poignant chord changes, the record has an air of sophistication and refinement, reflecting a desire to develop and progress to the very highest level.

From their website - "The Drella’s are the brain child of Tommy Scott formerly of Liverpool indie giants "Space", The Drella’s is Tommy’s outlet for his darker and heavier side, the music is Rockin and as ever quirky and experimental.
A Message From Tommy Scott - I Absolutely Love My New Band "The Drella’s" Ive never felt so excited about music since i first heard the likes of SPIZZ ENERGY, ELVIS, ATV, X RAY SPEX, MOTORHEAD, SINATRA, THE FLAMINGO’sand ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN. When we Plug in, i feel i can finally hear the sounds ive always craved for in my head, " I ADORE OUR NOISE!" After much frustration with "SPACE" ( No offence to the boys - they were just as frustrated as me ) i Decided i need to sail on a new ship........ Enter Phil and his Brain-Thumping Basslines!!! We Jammed at home with a Drum machine, but the poor little rythm machine just didnt have the power on its own...

Enter Leon and his Pounding TOM TOMS!!! Along with the 70’s drum machine the band moved up a stage. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But thier was still something missing... Enter Masha and her spooky keyboards and thrashing guitars " The Drella’s" were complete at last!!!!! As for were the name comes from, "Drella" was Andy Warhol’s nickname given to him by Lou Reed, as he was half Dracula and half Cinderella Just Like this band!!!!!!!!!!!!! Enjoy The Goosebumps!!!!!!! Love Tommy XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX THE VIDEO FOR OUR NEW SINGLE "VIOLENCE IS ART""

From their website - "Sion are a five piece band from south England, the place of all good farmers. So the band know their crops. They have toured across Europe and the States. Recently experienced near death, due to the tour bus hanging over a cliff edge in Spain. But not nearly as fun as when they drove in to a nudist camp. (Shortly after decided it was best if they changed driver for a while). They have also Played in 14 countries. Won an unsigned competition to play at O2 Wireless Festival then asked back to play the next year. Dan the bass player has recently been rescuing golden retrievers from local ponds and rivers in his home town of Marlborough. They have also Received radio play on Radio 1, XFM and BBC 6 Music. Sion have once been paid for a gig, and have a debut single “Driiting Away” due out in September."

The Dublin Castle is one of North London’s most famous venues. A gorgeous little historical wonder at the top of Parkway.
Appreciation to Alfie and BugBear. The two subject of the evening were Second Sense (link here) and Matthew Winston (link here). A combination of portrait and live captures.
